We have an exciting opportunity for a QHSE & Improvement Manager to join our team in Hixon, Stafford. The role would suit someone with experience in a similar role, managing multiple teams within a manufacturing quality environment.

We are currently looking for a full-time permanent QHSE & Improvement Manager to join our busy and fast-paced team.

The team you’ll be working in

You will play a vital, active role in the function, devising and implementing effective strategies for H&S, Quality and Business Improvement to ensure that we reduce waste, improve safety and drive business efficiency to support our growth goals. Besides, your immediate peers, you will also work closely with our operations teams on a day to day basis to ensure that we deliver a great result for both the customer and our business

What you’ll be doing

So that you can get a feel for the job, here is what you will be doing day to day:

· Work to devise and establish a suitable quality management system for the business

· Devise and implement quality and process improvement strategy

· Proactively find ways to improve quality, reduce waste and warranty costs for the business

· Lead and deliver companywide continuous improvement activities and project management

· Drive cultural change to make quality a key focus for all business stakeholders

· Lead the implementation of lean manufacturing tools and techniques across the business

· Establish documented and audited SOP’s for production operations and business processes, provide training and ensuring clear traceability

· Provide suitable inspection processes of key parts / assemblies / WIP / finished goods

· Training and audit of key business processes to ensure conformance to quality standards

· Document and improve existing business systems and processes to drive improvement

· Establish supply chain quality standards which are measured and drive improvement

· Establish and audit a maintenance program for machinery and tooling, internally and externally

· Support business NPI with particular focus on project management and safe launch of NPI’s

· Support operations to measure and analyse cycle times, takt times, factory layouts, and other aspects to improve efficiency & productivity

· Develop, implement and audit the company health and safety / environmental policies

· Provide business analysis and information

· Set and monitor goals and motivate staff to achieve these through strong leadership and open dialogue

What you’ll need to succeed

Need to know

· Knowledge of best practice quality systems and business processes

· Working knowledge of lean principles within a manufacturing environment.

· Principles of quality inspection, measurement and audit

· Working knowledge of project management principles

· A detailed understanding of relevant H&S regulations and environmental standards

Need to have

· Proven experience in a similar role, managing multiple teams within a manufacturing quality environment

· Accreditation / training in six sigma, lean manufacturing and/or continuous improvement

· Experience in project management and leading cross functional teams

· Exceptional written and oral communication skills

· Experience in implementing SOPs and H&S processes

· Experience in devising, managing and delivering KPI’s

· A can do, problem solving approach to deliver the result

· Ability to adapt and thrive on change and engage others

· Customer centric focus, both internal and external

More about the job

Hours of work are 40 hours per week: Mon - Thurs 8.00am – 5.00pm, Friday 8.00am – 3.45pm.

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum based on 40 hours per week, depending on experience.

Location: Hixon, Stafford (rural location)
