What Are The Differences Between The Cambridge 35 and Cambridge 43?

The Allett Cambridge 35 and Allett Cambridge 43 are both self-propelled battery-powered cylinder mowers but there are some key differences between the two models:

1. Cutting Width:

  • Cambridge 35: 14” (35 cm)
  • Cambridge 43: 17” (43 cm)
  • The Cambridge 43 has a wider cutting width, making it more suitable for larger lawns (up to 450m² compared to 350m² for the Cambridge 35).

2. Grass Collection Bag:

  • Cambridge 35: 38.5L mesh grass bag.
  • Cambridge 43: 62L mesh grass bag.
  • The Cambridge 43 offers a larger capacity for grass collection, meaning less frequent emptying during mowing. Note: We advise not filling the box too full as it will add weight to the front section of the mower affecting your height of cut.

3. Rear Roller:

  • Cambridge 35: Single-section rear roller.
  • Cambridge 43: Double-section rear roller with a geared differential.
  • The double-section rear roller of the Cambridge 43 allows for easier turning without damaging the grass, while the Cambridge 35 has a single-section roller.

4. Weight:

  • Cambridge 35: 38kg with the grass bag and battery.
  • Cambridge 43: 41.5kg with the grass bag and battery.
  • The Cambridge 43 is slightly heavier, due to its larger grass bag and rear roller.

5. Suitable Lawn Size:

  • Cambridge 35: Suitable for lawns up to 350m².
  • Cambridge 43: Suitable for lawns up to 450m².
  • The Cambridge 43 is better suited for larger lawns or those who want wider stripes- You can still double your stripe up with the Cambridge 35.

6. Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Cambridge 35: Uses the RC35 cartridges.
  • Cambridge 43: Uses the RC43 cartridges.
  • While both models can use a range of Allett cartridges for different lawn care tasks (e.g., Scarifier, Verticutter, Dethatcher etc) the cartridges are specific to each model’s series. Note you can use your QC cartridges in the Cambridge models with a QC2RC conversion kit

7. Other Features:

  • Both models share several similarities, such as:
    • Battery: Both use a 40V 4Ah lithium-ion battery with a runtime of 30-40 minutes per charge.
    • Height Adjustment: Both offer stepless height adjustment between 6mm and 32mm.
    • Quiet Operation: Both mowers operate at a quiet 92 dB, making them ideal for evening mowing without disturbing neighbours.
    • Rapid cartridge change- Change a cartridge in less than a minute- Change from cutting to scarifying for example.
    • A steel front roller and a grass rake.
    • Both models are push button start also.

In summary, the Cambridge 43 is a larger cutting width, larger grass collection bag and boasts a more advanced rear roller system making it better suited for larger lawns. The Cambridge 35 is more compact and lighter making it a great option for smaller gardens.
