It’s been a busy three months here at Allett. We have had 2 new members of staff join us at Allett; Shaun Etherington our new Product Design Engineer and Glynn Allen our Key Account Manager. Shaun joined us in March in a role that reflects our innovative approach going forward. Shaun’s role involves designing the look and feel of products as well as the overall innovative technical designs going forward. He is already working hard on our next release.
‘Shaun is a critical appointment for Allett’s new and innovative product strategy and I’m really looking to collaborating with him on the exciting projects we have coming up. Shaun was a real find with his existing lawnmower product knowledge and will make a good contribution to our strong team with his design skills” – John Gittins (Innovation Engineering Manager).

April saw Glynn Allen join us as our Key Account Manager. Glynn’s role involves liaising with our domestic dealers ensuring they have everything they need to stock and sell Allett machines and provide the best customer service that reflects the Allett values to our customers. It is important that all of our Allett dealers are up to speed with the products and have all the marketing material they need for customers as they enter the door. Glynn is a lovely guy from Yorkshire who has fitted in really well here at Allett and having owned his own garden machinery business himself can relate well to the dealers in the industry.
‘’Glyn has a great deal of expertise in garden machinery and how dealerships work with owning his own for many years. He makes a great addition to further strengthen the Allett team and support our Great British brand’’, Austin Jarrett (Allett MD).

After a busy winter of manufacturing and exporting machines overseas we are now well into our busy season here in the UK and other countries where the sun is shining. With our Export sales growing each year, production in the factory rarely stops and we have recently celebrated a continued 5-year growth in export sales culminating in us being awarded the
Queens Award for Enterprise- International Trade for 2019. This is an honour we are highly proud of being a British manufacturer. It allows us to put the Queens Award logo on our products and within our brochures which is something we are excited about. We feel that making products in Britain is a selling point in itself- people want to buy British quality products. Our main export success has been achieved with professional products for sports stadiums and training grounds, achieving an increased sale with the USA, Russia, Germany, France, the Czech Republic and Spain leading their top ten markets in the past three years. The Russia World Cup was a big contributor for us in 2018 as we shipped over 185 machines over to the various stadiums and training grounds which certainly kept the boys in the factory busy. Dave Allett rejoined us in 2015 as our Export sales manager which has had a huge impact on export sales over the past 4 years as well as the increased success of Allett USA and the popularity of Allett products in Americas top baseball and soccer clubs. Austin Jarrett ‘’Every one of our machines proudly wears a Union Flag decal, and this really helps us in our export markets where the UK is revered for their lawns’’
James Till and Dave Allett will be visiting Buckingham Palace on 11th June for a Royal reception alongside other British companies. The award is valid for 5 years meaning we can display the Queens Award logo on our products until 2024- the flags are already up at the factory!

Allett C34E launch May 2019
Going forward we are looking at the future of mowing and the fact battery-powered machines are going to be taking over petrol and electric machines before you know it. Business, sports clubs and estates are looking to go green to do their bit for the environment and our new battery
C34E cylinder mower ticks all the boxes. It’s quiet, throws out NO harmful emissions that can cause serious health issues to operators as well as no hand-arm vibrations. The
C34E takes cartridges from our professional range allowing operators to get the very best out of their pitch. Our first battery products were released a couple of years ago now to the homeowner with great success. The Allett Liberty machines have sold better than we could have ever imagined which reflects the ongoing shift towards battery powered products.
The
Liberty 43 takes ALL the cartridges in the Allett range however is powered by a 40V Lithium-ion battery. The machine is quiet allowing homeowners that work shifts to mow at any time of the day without disturbing the neighbours. With a cost of approximately 3-5p for a full charge which will easily mow most lawns the extra cost of the machine initially may be more expensive than a petrol, however, in the long run, the customer is saving much more not having to buy fuel.
May 2019 saw us host our C34E launch event at Twickenham- the first battery-powered machine in our Professional range. This was an invite only event with the country's biggest names in the industry invited alongside our Allett dealers to share the day with us. We had the most perfect weather for the day and each and every one of our attendees had the chance to cut the Twickenham pitch with the
C34E battery machine (Find videos on our Youtube). Prior to the demonstrations out on the hallowed turf, we hosted presentations with Keith Kent and Sustainability Expert David Stubbs. David took to the stage first to explain how he was instrumental in making London 2012 the most sustainable games ever. He also talked about the challenges facing us today and what we can be doing to help save the planet. You can find his whole speech on our YouTube channel
here.
Twickenham Head Groundsman Keith Kent took to the stage to talk about the challenge he and his two grounds staff Ian and Andy face at Twickenham including a colour-blind referee, pigeons and the sheer amount of games they host at the ground. It was really lovely to hear how the pitch is prepared in the same way for a schoolboys game as it is for a world cup final! You can find Keith’s speech
here.
Handy Tools were also at Twickenham with us demonstrating their products and how the batteries from our
C34E machine can easily interchange into various other garden products. Austin talked about the Pioneer programme which has been set up for the first 20 buyers of the
C34E. This will involve factory tours, feedback sessions, Allett merchandise and any upgrades to machines undertaken in the first year done at no cost to the owner. For more details on the Pioneer Programme please contact
Steve.Robinson@allett.co.uk.
During the launch, we held a competition to win an Allett
Liberty 43 which was won by Scott Trestrail- well done Scott! Happy Mowing!
